Laurie Actman is responsible for the implementation and execution of PCI’s services and partnerships within the University and leads PCI’s branding, marketing and communications with internal and external stakeholders.

Bethany Edwards, Lia Diagnostics @bethanyaedwards + @LIADiagnostics

Bethany Edwards received her Master’s degree in Integrated Product Design from the University of Pennsylvania, a joint program between three schools within the University: The School of Engineering and Applied Science, The Wharton School, and The School of Design.

While pursuing her Master’s degree, she conceptualized the idea and completed the initial research and development for Lia – the first, biodegradable and flushable pregnancy test. In March 2015, after being accepted into DreamIt Ventures’ Athena program, Bethany co-founded LIA Diagnostics to turn her idea and research into a reality.

Bethany is the 2015 winner of the Small Business Association's InnovateHer national competition, a 2015 Global Entrepreneurship Summit delegate and Youth and Women’s Pitch participant, a 2015 DreamIt Ventures Athena Alumna, was named one of PA Bio’s “16 to Watch in ‘16”, and most recently was acknowledged as one of Philadelphia Business Journal's "15 women who are changing the face of tech in the region".

Alessandra Patrizio, Oncora Medical

Alessandra is a graduate of Hobart and William Smith Colleges, where she earned a B.S. in Psychology and competed for their NCAA D-III Field Hockey team. Post college, she worked as a research coordinator for multiple medical laboratories at the University of Pennsylvania. This experience serves her well at Oncora, where in addition to operations, Alessandra helps support clinical and technical research efforts. She is passionate about startups, medical research, and anything that helps improve the lives of cancer patients.

Shahrukh Tarapore, ArcWeb @shahrukht

Shahrukh Tarapore is Head of Engineering at Arcweb Technologies, a digital design and development firm specializing in the healthcare and financial services industries. He has 15 years of experience in R&D and delivering software technology to both startups and large corporations. At Arcweb, he leads the team of engineers and sets technology strategy for the company and its clients.
