Laurie Actman is responsible for the implementation and execution of PCI’s services and partnerships within the University and leads PCI’s branding, marketing and communications with internal and external stakeholders.
Danielle Cohn, Comcast (Comcast Business)
Danielle is responsible for curating and celebrating Comcast’s spirit of entrepreneurship by building more awareness of the many programs and resources throughout the company that foster innovation in the communities that Comcast serves. She directs Comcast’s ongoing engagement with and support of startups, incubators, co-working spaces, investors and individual entrepreneurs, as well as programs that inspire current and potential Comcast and NBCUniversal talent. This includes helping to design a collaborative entrepreneurial program that will be located inside the new Comcast Innovation & Technology Center when it opens in 2018.
Kristen Fitch, University City Science Center @switchfitch @ucsciencecenter
Since joining the University City Science Center in 2005, Kristen Fitch has been involved with the planning and implementation of a number of projects, programs and initiatives that advance the organization’s mission of innovation-based economic development. Currently, Kristen serves as the Senior Manager of Marketing and Media Relations.
Kristen was a key player in the launch of Quorum, the clubhouse for entrepreneurs, which has convened over 70,000 entrepreneurs, investors and business leaders since opening in 2011. In 2015, Kristen managed the rebrand and launch of the Science Center’s nationally recognized FirstHand program, which connects youth from underserved schools with STEM subjects through hands-on experiences.
Kristen played an integral role when the Science Center rebranded its physical campus as uCity Square, the expansion of which is a partnership between the Science Center, Wexford Science + Technology and Ventas. As Boston-based CIC plans their launch at uCity Square, Kristen has worked to integrate them into the Philadelphia ecosystem, strengthening both organizations’ collective ability to serve startups and serial entrepreneurs.
Kristen is also responsible for overseeing the University City Keystone Innovation Zone (UC KIZ), which offers tradable tax credits to startups in the life sciences and tech sectors. Since the program launched in 2005, the UC KIZ has grown in geography, industry focus and its overall reach to the entrepreneurial community. To date, the UC KIZ has yielded $13 million in KIZ Tax Credits to 79 life science and technology startups in Philadelphia.
Kristen has a bachelor’s degree from Penn State University and a Marketing Certificate from the Executive Education Program at The Wharton School.
Chris Laing, Capital City Innovation @chrislaing @CapCityTX
Chris leads an organization that is coordinating the stakeholders of the innovation district emerging around Austin’s new health district. Austin’s innovation district is committed to economic diversification, inclusive place-making, and healthy community. Chris serves on the Board of Directors of the South Jersey Technology Park, and the Oversight Committee for the FDA-funded Philadelphia Pediatric Device Consortium. His particular areas of expertise include life sciences, medtech, and healthcare.
Emeka Oguh, PeopleJoy @emeka
Emeka Oguh is the founder & CEO of PeopleJoy http://peoplejoy.co/. PeopleJoy works with CEOs and Human Resources leaders on improving millennial employee retention, through innovative financial wellness programs that include student loan repayment assistance and financial counseling. Previously Emeka founded and launched a mobile app publishing company that was acquired in 2015. Prior to that he worked as Director of Product at a financial technology startup and as a Wall Street analyst. Emeka received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Rutgers University and his MBA from Harvard Business School. He currently resides in Philadelphia, PA with his wife.
